For example, all black Christian religious experience is implicitly liberationist, even when constrained by conservative doctrines and neoconservative ethics. 18 Black Theology in Transatlantic Dialogue One has only to witness the ways in which black Christianity can be theologically conservative and yet be in solidarity with more progressive models of social policy and political engagement. To put it simply, black Christianity, even when conservative (in Britain, often, but not exclusively seen in terms of black Pentecostalism) rarely aligns itself with the dictates of white conservatism, particularly in the areas of social policy and party politics.
